Sim-Fly was founded in February 2015 and since moving to Old Buckenham airfield we have enjoyed a settled and positive period and welcomed many visitors.
But before Christmas we were invited to join in a new operation at Norwich Airport with the Aviation Skills Partnership an exciting new training organisation for young people which is starting operations this April in a purpose built hangar at Anson Road.
Sim-Fly have focused mostly in the past on making aviation available to everyone as flight simulators allow people of any age or ability to fly and that will always be our core business.
However, we have become aware of other types of flying and the one which really excites us is COMBAT flying – and in particular the World War 2 era as present day modern dog fighting is very complex and perhaps less enjoyable?
Plans to open up a Sim-Fly Combat suite at Norwich are well advanced and we plan to have two Spitfire fuselages/cockpits and two Messerschmidt fuselages/cockpits in a room with large screens with projected images just like at Old Buckenham.
We can then teach people the basics of flying and they can then progress onto COMBAT flying where team building, corporate entertainment, competitions are possible.
The sky is the limit! – so watch out for news of our part relocation to Norwich in the next few weeks, but we will still have our HQ / Base at Old Buckenham.
